Tehran, IRNA – The Milak border crossing between Iran and Afghanistan in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan was reopened today (on Wednesday).

Iran's customs spokesman Rouhollah Latifi announced on Wednesday that Milak border crossing between Iran, Afghanistan was shut down on Aug 6, 2021, due to Afghanistan insecurity.

"With the  Milak border crossing reopening, the three official Iranian borders with Afghanistan (Milak, The Mahiroud border crossing in South Khorasan Province, and Dogharoon Border crossing in Razavi Khorasan Province) are open now, and  exporting of  Iranian goods process by traders and transport companies continues,"  he added.

When Milak Border was shut down, the exit of Iranian and transit trucks towards Afghanistan was not possible

Milak border terminal was first reopened earlier this month after a week of closure and over 70 Iranian truckers returned to the country, however, Afghan truck drivers once again closed the crossing in Afghanistan's Nimruz Province and Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan Province, only a couple of days after it was reopened.

Milak is a village in Jahanabad Rural District, in the central district of Hirmand County, Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
